Turks & Caicos Islands - Trip Reports

Beaches Resort, Provo

Just returned from 8 days at Beaches in Turks. Here is a very brief over view, only my opinion here folks.

Restaurants - 5 on site. All good to great. Reflection (buffet) has lots of choices for all tastes. Food was good, plentiful and tasted great. Service was terrific. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Never full so you just walk right in. Saturdays and Wed. they have a farewell dinner by the pool. Do that! They have great seafood dinners then. Arizona-Lunches and dinners. American food here. Lunch was hot dogs and hamburgers, fries etc. Dinner was ribs, chicken and steak. Really great ribs! Good view of the sunsets. Get there between 6-6:30 to avoid the wait. Schooners-Dinner only-More fancy. Good service, great food also. Order the crab-it's all you can eat! Teppan Rest. (can not remember its name). Typical teppan style food. its of fun. You MUST make dinner reservations 48 hours in advance. Sapodillas-Adults dinners only- good food-not great. Service was ok, nice to get away from the kids. All beverages are included in your stay. You can literally lock up your wallet and forget it. Beer was Coraona, coors or Red Stripe. Mixed drinks had good brands and they are not shy about pouring the liquor! A lot has been asked about the water park. In reality it is a smallish swimming pool with 2 small water slides. It is a great place for kids up to about 11-12 or so. After that they're to big. There is a game center next to it with tons of Sega games and a small place the kids can get food-icecream, pizza etc. Great place for them to hang out. Teens all hang out at the Arizona at night or the Teen Center, really the water park. They have a disco there at night.

Service - my wife and I both noted the same thing. The guys that work there were very, very friendly! They would help you any way they could. The motto was really -"No Problem". Just ask and you get it. But.. we both felt the women were more conservative. They would help you but no extra effort. All in all I rated the service as fantastic. Remember-you are on vacation so don't get to stressed out about the small stuff.

Safety - this is a safe island. No crime. You really can let the kids roam the place and not worry to much. Those of you with teenage daughters should always worry!

Beach -the best I've ever seen. Temp was 78 and visibility was unlimited.

Trips/tours - Depending on your outlook in life - there is not much to see or do on the island. We stayed at the resort. People that rented cars for the day were back in half a day. If you go out find another couple and share a days rental. Definitely take the island tour. $45.00 per person. Well worth it. See a couple of islands and lots of snorkeling. We even saw JOJO the dolphin!

Thanks to Rob for this trip report ...
