Turks & Caicos Islands - Trip Reports

Allegro Resort, Provo

To start anyone with any concerns that Allegro is not up to par please relaaaax the resort is GREAT!!!

We arrived on Sat. at 18:15 whisked through customs (Caribbean whisk of course )got our luggage and where in the van at the resort within an hour.

We checked in and found our room 1302 delx ocean view with no hassle and minutes later our luggage was at the door. We stood and stared in awe at the view from our balcony WOW first impression, we hurried for a quick stroll before the sunset. The buffet restaurant was in order for dinner and the food was good with plenty of choice, the service was great I started a conversation with our server who was from Jamaica she was really nice as well the staff of the resort always wanted to talk if you wanted to. Don't be shy and talk to these people they have great stories most are from different islands with different impressions of Provo, all agree on one thing no much night life for them because they work six days a week and short shifts.

Sunday we investigated the resort we started on the beach at 0700 and found that people had already started to reserve the shade, there area a good dozen permanent shaded areas as well the have plenty of folding cabanas and if you ask at the activities desk they will give you a portable umbrella to stake out a more secluded piece of beach and there is plenty of it just a few steps through beach sand that feels like you are walking through butter.

We headed to the Breakfast buffet, eggs any way you want the other usual breakfast thing lots of fruit, great walnut raisin bread and a fresh fruit drink kiosk where you are served to a fruit drink of your own creation. The restaurant seating overlooks the pool area and out to the beautiful colours of the ocean.

The pool is large with plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas all around ( more shaded areas would be nice ), activities are done in the pool during the day for those who want to.

For the children they have kids club, an air conditioned building with activities.

Not a lot of children or single people at the resort, Club Med just down the beach for singles, and about a 25 min. walk the other way it's the Beaches family resort, recess is out.

The activities revolves around the water diving snorkelling sailing boat excursions, the outback trip with Capt. Bill was a Snorkel trip beach lunch pirate cave visit and boat ride and some unexpected antic it a must.

A 40 min walk from Allegro past recess is out resort you will find a free place to visit it's the coral garden another must see.

We took a resort diving course it was well done, they take you down 40 ft. you can see sharks manta rays and every other fish you can imagine.

If you want to go shopping don't expect much it's mostly T-shirts and hats with the occasional duty free shop, one expensive store at Allegro across from the Casino.

Lunch is served in the Buffet and as well hotdogs; burgs, pizza and salads are served at the Caribbean restaurant.

Dinner is also served Buffet style with different theme nights and one Bar BQ when the management serves you up great ribs, steaks and sausage. Two other restaurant’s are also in the complex one Italian one Caribbean, we used our three tickets at the Caribbean restaurant the food was great.

Nightly entertainment was provided by the staff different themes each night and they were surprisingly well done.

I played a game of golf it is very expensive and if you don't know the course bring lots of balls.

The rooms are nice and most have a view of the water providing you are not on the ground floor. Any questions just ask.

Thanks to Roy for this trip report ...
