Just returned (03-11-04) from St. Lucia staying at the Rex Saint Lucian. Facilities at the hotel were excellent and the beach and its facilities were first class.
The highlight of the holiday was discovering the "Chic" restaurant at the next door hotel the "Royal Saint Lucian". As soon as you entered the restaurant the service and attentiveness of the staff was superb, equally matched by the elegance of the surroundings and the quality of the food and wine list available.
We hired a car to do our own exploring of the island. This was fine, with the exception of trying to go from the Airport via the road that goes around the southern end of the island to Soufriere. The road is currently being upgraded and will eventually be an excellent road at the moment it is a 20 mile construction site and should be avoided as we found to our cost!
