Cuba - Trip Reports

Beaches Varadero

I would not recommend this resort to anyone. The food is inedible. My husband and I went here December 8 2002 for one week and lived on bread and bananas the entire week; my husband got food poisoning halfway through our vacation and was confined to the room for the last three days of our trip.

I have been to Cuba four times before and stayed at Breezes Jibacoa, Breezes Costa Verde, Superclubs Puntarena and Sol Club Cayo Guillermo and I have never had a problem with the food before. The seafood at this resort - even at the a la carte seafood restaurant consisted of shrimp that had not been cleaned (head, legs, shells were still on them), black pieces of lobster and black fish with bones throughout it.

I cannot comprehend how this resort is rated 4.5 stars - it should be about 2 stars. The beach is beautiful and the resort itself is nice, however, if you plan on eating, do not go to Beaches Varadero.

Thanks to Dave for this trip report ...
