Cuba - Trip Reports

Cuatro Vientos Santa Lucia

Just got back from Cuatro Vientos Santa Lucia Cuba. . . . it was an hour and a half drive from the airport, which was canadian built as they all are. Weather was wonderful, 30 degress plus and always sunny with a breeze.

The resort was nice with 400 rooms. Nice grounds and beach was awesome. Pool was big with a nice swim up bar. The sand on the beach was white just like powder but there was quite abit of seaweed which the trucks swept up daily.

There were four bars and a disco. The lobby bar, pool bar, beach bar and another at the restaurant for lunch - the snack bar- the disco was not included. It was the slow seaso but more bartenders would have been good. Most of the staff spoke good english as well as german and italian.

The entertainment was salsa bands at nite with dancers and were very good. The rooms were nice but the airconditioning in most did not work.

The food was terrible. Not much variety and very bland. All buffet for breakast and dinner. We ordered a works pizza one day and got a pizza/stew . . . . it had potatoes, peas, carrots and greenbeans on it (laughs)

Overall the resort is nice for the price and the water is beautiful . . . one week was enough though. Not much to do or see in this area besides relax.

Most of the guests were british, italian, german and canadian. Safety deposit boxes in the rooms do not work so you must pay for one at the lobby. A deposit of $10 per towel is required and they do not like to take visa for this.

We liked guardalavaca better but still not a bad choice for the price.

Thanks to Garry for this trip report ...
