Bonaire - Trip Reports

Bonaire

We went to Bonaire late Febuary 2003 and had a wonderfull time. We are not divers but still found there was plenty of activities to do. We went to all the Snorkling sites including klein Bonaire and saw the turtles. I would highly recommed going to Klein Bonaire. We rented a truck (small) from Budget through a travel agent. You must have a truck if you want to enter the Washington national park. We spent half a day in the park we left our resort at 9:30am and took the "long route" and where finished at 2:30. It costs $10 U.S. per person. We stayed at the Sand Dollar Condo's which are very nice a 1 bdrm unit with a large screened in patio overlooking the ocean (room 1A). I thought the Sand Dollar was a little quiet compared to Buddy's which is next door. I felt the resort was not set up for socializing with others or meeting other vactioners because it is a condo. After our 3 days at Sand Dollar we went to Sorobon clothing optional resort. It is a beutiful resort with shallow turquois waters all around. The rooms are all 1 bdrm and were immaculatly clean, with modern glass shower stalls and a mini kitchen. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine and snacks. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Every day we went for happy hour from 5:30-6:30 where we meet all the other guest staying at the resort we meet people from the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The resort was full and yet the service was excellent. It is a 15 min drive into town from Sorobon,we went there for dinner a few nights. I was afraid the resort would be too quiet for my liking but it was just perfect. We both agreed we would go back to Bonaire and also the Sorobon Beach resort.

Thanks to Tracy for this trip report ...
